This year’s Art in the Garden will be an evening full of artist demonstrations and participatory happenings, delectable food by Nicoletta’s paired with wine from Tumwater, and a wonderful experience filled with silent and live auction items. Come join us at Tumwater Winery on May 19th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Artist Jody Dunphy from Second Nature Project is known for her work in fostering a kinship with nature. Jody will create a large-scale seed sculpture, incorporating clover seeds and natural materials from the vineyard embedded in a cotton and abaca pulp screen. Remember the evening by harvesting a piece of the growing screen to plant and take home—with all supplies furnished by Al’s Garden Center. Join Jody in this one-of-a-kind experience to produce your own growing artwork!

Artist Palmarin Merges work draws from the desire to become more sustainable by re-using materials close at hand and combining them with the printmaking process. She will be demonstrating many forms of printmaking including linoleum cut, block, woodcut, and relief ink printing. Patrons will be able to try their hand at relief ink printing on site and leave with a souvenir of the evening.

Artist Austen Weitzel, known for his work in creating principle characters of Laika films, will be making paper insects. Insects have always inspired Austen. They have had millennia to adapt to the wiles that Nature lovingly provides, transforming into some of the Earth’s most complex, exotic, and beautiful species. It is their ancient imagination and Austen’s child-like excitement that drives his works into being. Patrons will be introduced to the process and follow along on the creation of creatures.

Each artist will have work available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Arts Council.

This event has limited seating, so reserve your spot(s) NOW!  Tickets are $95 for an experience of a lifetime.
