The Arts Council of Lake Oswego (ACLO) is excited to announce Plein Air: Chronicling 2020 will take place with an exhibition on view August 7 through September 25 at ARTspace Gallery, located at 41 B Avenue, Lake Oswego.
In many ways, the landscape of 2020 looks much different than in previous years. In light of the continued restrictions, health and safety risks due to COVID-19, and ongoing social justice movements, this year’s Plein Air will take an alternative approach. ACLO will accept paintings and drawings done en plein air (in the outdoors) in Lake Oswego and surrounding areas, however, ACLO will not be holding “paint-out” events. Works of art can be of any landscape – urban or rural – or even an artist’s own front/backyard. The term “landscape” can be interpreted creatively, as long as the artwork is made en plein air and not from a photograph.
Finished plein air artwork will be curated into an exhibition, Plein Air: Chronicling 2020 in the Arts Council’s new ARTspace Gallery, located at 41 B Avenue in Lake Oswego with an opening reception on Friday, August 7, 5-7 pm. Cash awards will be given to the top 3 works of art, chosen by a jury of local artists and community members.
Registration is currently open for artists at http://artscouncillo.org/pleinairchronicling2020.
