Join us for a City-wide celebration at our new location in City Hall.
We are teaming up with the City of Lake Oswego on September 21 to celebrate the new City Hall building, and the addition of 12 new Gallery Without Walls rotating public art pieces, People’s Choice, and the new Atrium project.
Stop by our ARTspace Gallery from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., located in Suite A of the new City Hall building. We will host a variety of activities for the whole family to celebrate the new Gallery Without Walls sculptures. Visitors will have the opportunity to take a docent-led tour, meet the artists to hear about their process, and be a part of this year’s People’s Choice dedication, Dependent Arising: Owl and Lemming with artist Terresa White. Dedication will be at 6:15 p.m. and docent-led tours will begin at 6:30 p.m. To be a part of the docent-led tours, community members are to gather in front of the ARTspace Gallery by 6:20 p.m. Kids can pick up a celebratory coloring book and all visitors are welcome to view the ARTspace Gallery and the amazing artwork from 45 artists in the exhibition, Abandoned: Images of What Remains.
Plus, there will be information on the 3rd floor of City Hall for an Atrium art sneak peek - information on the new public art piece that will be installed later this year from the “Percent for Art Program” will be available on the 3rd floor of City Hall. The design will be a Mobius strip that symbolizes the changes of land over time and provide a sense of connection for the community as they partake in civic engagement in this grand new building. Artist Lillian is the creator. Ms. Pitt is a Pacific Northwest Native American artist whose ancestors lived in and near the Columbia River Gorge. The focus of her work is creating contemporary fine art pieces that delight today’s art lovers, and at the same time, honor the history and legends of her people.
Both the City and Arts Council will be following all state COVID-19 guidelines, including wearing masks in all public indoor settings.
City Hall Festivities will include:
· Ribbon-cutting ceremony (6 p.m.)
· Building tours
· Live music, games & activities
· Touch-a-Truck (fire truck, police cars, street sweeper and others!)
· Food trucks
· Free snow cones
