ON VIEW FEBRUARY 17 – MAY 19, 2023

Process(ing) featured two artists whose works in photography and installation invite participants to address time, impermanence, and healing. All works are grounded in a sense of place.

The artists, Emily Jung Miller and Martin Stabler, both use repetition as the central theme in exploring their process. The exhibition invites the participant to be part of the gallery artwork in a tangible and experiential way, by asking how these themes intersect with your life.

Emily Jung Miller uses the repeated circular form of the full moon in her installation, 1,000 Moons, as a “grief process on handmade paper.” Martin Stabler’s video installation and photography series, The River Sessions, show the Willamette River from the same vantage point at George Rogers Park over the course of 14 months during the pandemic.

The River Sessions taught me to pay attention to an ever-changing scene from a single vantage point. Every day, the scene was the same, but of course it wasn’t.” remarks artist Martin Stabler.
