The upcoming exhibition at Artspace, A Distant Center, brings together more than thirty artists whose works address the concept of a center in some capacity. Opening Friday, September 6th, between 5–7 p.m., the exhibition will be on view until October 25th, 2024. 

Esteemed Art Historian Sue Taylor, Ph.D., juried this open-call exhibition in collaboration with Artspace Curator Morgan Ritter. 

Here, the center is understood as the point in which all attention is focused, where gathering occurs, and activity flows outward; it is also known as the axis, core, or spine. The title, A Distant Center, is sourced from poet Ha Jin’s poem A Center and suggests a momentary sense of stability and resilience in a less-than-unified socio-political landscape.
